Economic and Community Development

Kim Harris- Chair

The responsibilities of this committee include promoting economic development activities in Roane County.  Activities include working with new business and industry.

Educational Affairs

Danice Turpin - Chair

The responsibilities of this committee include working to improve the quality of education in Roane County, hereby enhancing the labor force and overall community livability.  Activities include maintaining a current Roane County Education brochure, working the Youth Leadership Program, TN Scholars Program, Teachers Supply Closet and the Junior Achievement Program.

Finance

Chris Ahler- Chair

The responsibilities of this committee include ensuring that the chamber executes its internal affairs in a business-like manner that will guarantee the most efficient use of members, staff and financial resources.

Small Business/Retail

Dana Peterka - Chair

The responsibilities include promoting the interest of business in Roane County by providing technical assistance, brokering information and marketing the retail members.  Activities include promoting the business seminars available through the chamber and the "Shop Roane First" campaign to encourage doing business with chamber members.  Attendance at chamber functions such as ribbon cutting is expected.

Membership

Lynn Farnham- Chair

The responsibilities of this committee involve marketing the chamber by stimulating membership growth and working for the retention of members.  Activities include membership drives, working with ambassador group, and contacting any member on the drop list.

Tourism

Paul Cowell - Chair

The responsibilities of this committee include promoting tourism activities in Roane County and stimulating cooperation between businesses and visitors.

Public Affairs/Legislative

Buddy Bowers- Chair

The responsibility of this committee include monitoring specific legislative issues on a local, state and federal level, representing the chamber membership before legislative bodies and keeping members informed of pertinent legislation.

Housing

Cheryl Laxton- Chair

The responsibilities of this committee are to promote a comprehensive coordinated approach to address housing issues.  This approach will promote thoughtful community and economic development while enhancing quality of life.
