KINGSTON, TN: The first annual Rock -n- Reel Watts Bar Lake Fishing Tournament hosted by the Roane County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Food City and Coca-Cola, announced Beverly Stroh, Tourism/Marketing Manager for The Roane Alliance.
The fishing tournament is the project of the Chamber of Commerce's tourism committee, chaired by Jane Ollis of Rocky Top Markets. "At a meeting with Mr. Mike Sexton, Regional Manager and Mr. Thomas R. Hembree, Sr. VP/Marketing, Food City has agreed to become a major sponsor in our tournament and they will also sponsor our Friday night banquet," said Ollis. "Joining Food City is Roger Lacy, Sales Manager for Coca-Cola and Baxter Caldwell, Regional Manager for Coca-Cola who has become another major cash sponsor. Coke will provide soft drinks for the fishermen during the tournament."
Scheduled to take place on the weekend of October 13, 14, 2007, the tournament will offer a first place prize of $12,000 with incremental place awards down to the 30th position with a take-home award of $400. The banquet is tentatively scheduled to take place in the Roane County Park on Friday, Oct 12th. Fishermen will launch from Rockwood's Tom Fuller Park Boat Launch on Saturday and Sunday.
"Tournament registrations will probably begin at the end of the month," according to tournament consultant James Nuckols. "A mailing will go out to over 1000 anglers across a seven state area plus we will begin distributing tournament flyers to bait shops and sporting goods stores."
Other major sponsors of the event are the municipalities of Rockwood, Harriman, Kingston and Grande Vista Bay Waterfront Properties. Additional information on the fishing tournament can be obtained by calling Beverly Stroh at The Roane Alliance at (865) 376-4201.
