Roane Specialized Services Expands – Purchasing 45 Acres in Rockwood

February 10, 2021

ROANE COUNTY, TN – The Roane County Industrial Development Board (RCIDB) has accepted a formal offer from Roane Specialized Services, LLC (made up of Roane Transportation and Roane Metals) to purchase the 45-acre Cardiff Valley Road Site in Rockwood’s Roane County Industrial Park. The acquisition of this adjacent property will help with the company’s growth and expansion efforts, a $4 million investment. Plans include the addition of a new corporate office, building an initial 50,000 sf warehouse facility with the potential to add additional facilities in the future, truck fleet parking, and storage space for their existing customers.

Roane Specialized Services had offers and the ability to expand in other locations, with a customer base that spans across the state and another location in Texas, but they chose Rockwood to not only continue their successful business but also move forward with an expansion that will more than double their existing business footprint. “The Roane Companies (RTS, RMG & RSS) are excited to move forward with our expansion plans. Our companies have greatly benefited over the past years from working with the great people of Roane County,” said Steve Kennedy, Managing Partner, RTS. “We would like to thank Justin and the staff at the Roane Alliance for helping us make this happen. Our companies look forward to seeing the growth of the workforce here in Roane County.”

Since 1996, Roane Transportation Services (RTS) has been a regional and national freight service and a leader in long and short-haul transportation. Coupled with a customer focus and high driver pay, they have a reputation as one of the best trucking companies in the US. While Roane Metals Group (RMG) prides itself in being more than a metal recycling facility and local scrap dealer. They also strive to be stewards in environmentalism to ensure a cleaner, greener tomorrow for Roane County and East Tennessee.

“Whether it’s through RTS or RMG, Roane Specialized Services takes pride in their work and they always put their employees first,” said Justin Snow VP of Economic Development, the Roane Alliance. “I am proud of the success this family-owned company has seen over the years and thank them for providing the citizens of Roane County with quality job opportunities.”

Roane Specialized Services employs 224 individuals, growing from 205 in 2019, and are expected to grow by an additional 25 jobs over the next two years. Over the past 4 years, jobs have increased at Roane Specialized Services by an impressive 62% (138 to 224). “We are delighted to continue to grow our business in Roane County. Roane County is home to us, and has been good to us over the years. We sincerely appreciate the efforts of the Roane Alliance, and the Roane County Industrial Development Board in seeing to it that this was an option for our expansion,” said Luke Wyatt Managing Partner, RMG.
