“Lift Zone” - FREE WiFi and Educational Content Community in Roane County

April 1, 2021

“Lift Zone” - FREE WiFi and Educational Content Community in Roane County.

To assist the community, bridge the Digital Divide and enhance Digital Literacy, ROANEnet (www.roanenet.org), in collaboration with Comcast and Morrison Hill Christian Church ( www.morrisionhill.com), has launched the first “Lift Zone” Community in Roane County.

A Lift Zone provides access to WiFi and Educational Content to help students and at-risk adults get online, participate in distance learning and do their schoolwork through a local community center.

The Lift Zone helps those students who, for a variety of reasons, may be unable to connect to distance learning at home, or who just want another safe place in which to study.

Located at the Morrison Hill Christian Church campus (106 Morrison Hill Circle, Kingston, TN) the initiative provides not only free high-speed internet connectivity, but also access to hundreds of free educational and digital skills content. This helps families and site coordinators navigate online learning and is monitored by a security content filter blocking access to dangerous and inappropriate websites.

ROANEnet has donated 10 refurbished computers to help with the digital devices need for the Lift Zone. Morrison Hill Christian Church is hosting and staffing the program, and Comcast is providing the internet connection and online resources.

For more information and how to take advantage of this Lift Zone please contact LiftZone@morrisonhill.com or call 865-376-5205.
