The primary objective of the Roane Alliance since it launched officially in 2001, is to increase economic prosperity for Roane County and its citizens through job growth and increased tax revenues. This is accomplished through the growth of existing businesses and industry and recruitment of new business, industry, visitors and residents. Planning and strategizing is important to determine those efforts and initiatives that can help reach those objectives.

Provide a centralized, one-stop shop for economic development initiatives, efforts and information that raise awareness and appreciation of Roane County and its assets;

Engage and recruit new business, industry, visitors and residents that help develop, diversify and grow Roane County’s economy;

Promote Roane County's quality of life by coordinating and implementing a comprehensive marketing plan for the county and community partners to establish Roane County as the regional destination to live, work and play;

Report and engage with community partners to identify successes, needs and ideas for future development;

Plan strategies for infrastructure and the controlled growth of Roane County's economy, specifically areas for retail, industry and recreation;

Provide resources and procedures to retain quality staff needed to accomplish the annual programs of work and the strategic plan;

Facilitate and provide a forum for community partners to collaborate on key economic development issues and opportunities; and

Advocate shopping local; a clean county; new and updated recreational assets; and other efforts and opportunities that can bring growth to Roane County.
Program of Work.
The partner organizations establish an annual Program of Work to accomplish the Roane Alliance Strategic Plan and Mission.
The Roane County Industrial Development Board (RCIDB) has the most comprehensive program of work, focusing on development, recruitment and retention of business and industry through local, regional and state partnerships; education and workforce development; and marketing our quality of life.
The Roane County Visitors Bureau (RCVB) works to develop and advocate for the development of recreation and tourism assets; recruit travelers to visit, stay, shop local and enjoy community events; and introduce our quality of life to future residents.
The Roane Chamber strives to be a reliable resource for the business community; create a stronger Chamber through membership; create events, workshops and programs to bring members, as well as non-members, together to help them succeed; and provide policies that create strong Chamber leadership.
Marketing Plan.
A comprehensive marketing plan is also established annually to identify targets and distribution methods, and plan specific marketing strategies for each partner.
